Crowning a drive to relaunch itself, Universiteit Antwerpen (University of Antwerp) has entered 2006 with a new visual identity. A resolute choice was made for a distinctive profile, illustrating a university by a river: an open, pluralistic university, characterful and qualitative, in a city that brings warm memories to many of its alumni.
Kandesign was asked to shape this new identity: not just a new logo that projects the new vision, but also an implementation programme to firmly place Antwerp University on the map. Next to classic printed matter, publications and advertising materials, ample attention was also given to the organisation's visibility within Antwerp and the various campuses by an extensive signage project. A film clip taking you behind the scenes of this operation will give a good impression of the scope for this identity project.
The entire programme has been extensively documented in an online design manual, allowing co-workers and external partners immediate access to all materials. To properly introduce the project, Antwerp University took an original approach to launch communication. Municipal poet Ramsey Nasr wrote the beautiful poem 'UtopiA' especially for the university, while Pieter Embrechts composed the memorable ballad 'U Aan het woord' for this occasion.
