Stichting Lezen

Modular kid's reading corner

For Stichting Lezen (Reading Foundation), Kandesign developed the reading spot: a modular system used in primary and nursery schools for stimulating children to read. The cube-shaped reading spot boxes act as little libraries, which can be freely stacked depending on the available space in each classroom. A number of modules can be converted into mini theatres (based on the Japanese kamishibai), which the teacher can use as a place to read to pupils or where the children can create their own little stories. After some time the modules are moved to another school, so have been designed to be collapsible for transport.
