When two become one

Digipolis saw the light of day in 2003, arising from a merger between the ICT departments of the cities of Antwerp and Ghent and their respective social services bureaus (OCMWs). Uniting complementary expertise in activities and services, the combined operation now also benefits from increased efficiency of personnel, financial and technical means, larger volume purchases and a stronger position towards higher authorities. Offering a most comprehensive ICT support to both cities' administrations, inhabitants, schools and service departments, Digipolis has now become a valuable source of ICT know-how in Belgium.

Having previously undertaken various projects for the city of Antwerp, KAN Design was delighted to help with the Digipolis corporate identity. Designed to move away from the new organisation's origins and associated municipal politics, the new identity concentrates on reflecting digital expertise. The logo is essentially built up from enlarged pixels, while the specific blue colours can't be interpreted as referring to any particular political ideology.

Completed with suitable typography and minimal graphics, the identity was applied to stationery, vehicles and various items for the official launch celebrations. An online design manual keeps everything up-to-date and readily accessible.
