Design Identity with no risks involved

Idewe is the largest external service for workplace safety and risk prevention in Belgium. With a countrywide network of agencies and some 400 specialists, Idewe is reponsible for the wellbeing of more than 500,000 employees in both the public and private sectors. A most comprehensive range of quality services includes consultancy, analysis, testing, coaching, research and documentation on anything from medical and psychological subjects to ergonomics and workplace hygiene.

Having previously performed a few ad-hoc assignments for Idewe, KAN Design was delighted to be shortlisted and then winning the pitch for designing the company's new graphic identity. A very clear brief and excellent communication allowed the initial design study to be less exploratory in nature than usual, focussing instead on varying degrees of development of a single basic solution. Another happy result of this was a pitch-winning design that subsequently needed but very minor finetuning before being fully approved.

Taking the previous logo (consisting of a diamond-faceted lozenge shape) as a starting point, the new logo has an added shape that can both be read as the initial I or as the curves of a human silhouette, reflecting the essence of Idewe's endeavours. This theme of human wellbeing is further illustrated by a horizontal band featuring portraits of smiling workers, this being a secondary graphic element that sees wide application within the identity.

Complete with new typography and a revised colour palette, the new identity provides artwork, guidelines and templates for an expanding range of applications contained in an online design manual. These currently consist of:
- stationery templates
- office application templates
- publication system incl
    - brochure templates
    - report templates
