In good hands

Assigned by Namahn, a renowned Brussels based design consultancy for the user-centric design of digital products,  KAN Design has assisted Agfa HealthCare in the development of the PaxPort Handswitch, an ingenious control unit for processing images during medical scanning sessions. The device - not larger than an adult's hand - had be operated by touch by the physician or medical worker.

The image recording process is therefore facilitated through a subtle harmony of auditive and tactile feedback. An integrated LCD display with a keypad that delivers extra information during the scan and allows control over the subsequent image processing treatment afterwards. The design itself is substantially based on the ergonomic requirements of the working environment.
KAN Design has participated with Agfa in the entire development process, from the design concept, test models, design detailing and technical specifications to prototyping and preparing for production. In connection to this project, the Paxport Server unit has also been provided with a newly designed housing.
